Macie needs specialized treatment for her tricky brain to make safe decisions and reactions to impulse. This is provided in a world-renowned Residential Center in the Southwestern U.S.

We have spent an unimaginable amount of money over the last 9 years and now we need your help. We had enough to commit to the program and are working diligently to find any other means of support (insurance, grants, etc). We need to fund the rest, and will be good stewards of your donations.

Macie entered the program at the end of March and we are extremely proud of her bravery and willingness to participate. We were blessed with an opportunity to get her buy-in and she knows that this experience and hard work will help her tricky brain make safe choices and reactions. She sounds cheerful and feels safe. There have been plenty of hard moments, but one of the qualities about her we admire most is her ability to go through hurdles, and get up and try again the next day!

We have all been working hard for 6 months - none harder than Macie herself. She is being incredibly brave, working through big challenges and big feelings, forming authentic caring relationships with specific trusted adults at the center, her therapist, and certain peers. She has learned an incredible amount in a short period of time. It is hard work retraining the brain’s intense reactivity. She loves school (on campus), went swimming every day this summer, has been on a few big hikes, found geodes (her favorite!) and has been able to trot on a horse. We have been out to visit every 4-5 weeks. It seems impossible but our family connection is even deeper, the “goodbyes” are harder, but our conversations are deeper, and bond is as strong as ever. There is much work to be done, progress can seem slow but the foundations are being laid to build upon.

They partner with us as the family to pay for expenses. The only fee taken from the donation is their nominal processing fee that matches that of GoFundMe.
